SNR8 contains one domain (Evalue= 4.0e-77) in the Sodium Neurotransmitter Symporter family that is responsible for the reuptake of neurotransmitters in presynaptic terminals. The closest homologs are in Pseudocohnilembus persalinus, a marine ciliate, Paramecium tetraurelia a unicellular organism that feeds on bacteria, with 51% and 42% identical residues.
